Star on July 2nd arriving to Quito. We will spend our first night near Quito Airport to relax and get used to the altitude in a nice hostel.
Our first day after a great breakfast will start heading north of Ecuador, to our cultural encounter with Zuleta community. You will enjoy the handmade embroidered items, best in their kind. We anticipate visiting a historic cooperative, a condor refuge/rescue sanctuary.
Be ready to enjoy some lakes surrender by mountains up to 15.120 ft
Our second main area to visit is the capital of Ecuador. Quito, a UNESCO cultural World Heritage site declared in 1978. It is among the largest and best-preserved historic sites in the Americas where you will visit houses and churches from the 16th century.
You will be in the middle of the world. Quito is 9.350 ft a.s.l.
We will experience traditional foods, musical presentations and other cultural events held during this period of the year. We anticipate attending a famous cultural folkloric ballet and drink delicious “must taste” canelazo.
You will be able to go to the top of the most important buildings of the historic downtown.
We will start heading south to Cuenca.
However be ready to make some great stops to visit Cotopaxi Volcano Park, eat lots of great food on the way, spend a night in Riobamba and even ride a horse if you like. Opportunity to admire the great Chimborazo Volcano (the highest point on earth measured from the center of our planet).
We will arrive to Cuenca, the city of the 4 rivers located at 8.399 ft above see level (a.s.l.) The richness of its architecture and culture in general earned Cuenca the designation of Cultural Heritage of Humanity on 1999. Becoming the second city in Ecuador with international recognition. You will enjoy lots of great cultural exchanges in our visit and adventures in the National Park El Cajas.
On our way back to the airport, you will relax in hot springs waters to get ready for your flight back home after 15 days of great travels, food, mountains, lakes, cities from the the 16th century, and more!
